Frequently Asked Questions
Clear answers to common questions about investing, financial goals and protection—so you can take your next step with greater confidence.
SIP & Mutual Funds
What is a Systematic Investment Plan (SIP)?
A SIP lets you invest a chosen amount in a mutual fund at regular intervals, often monthly. It can help build investing discipline, but returns are market-linked and are not guaranteed.
How much should I invest through a SIP?
The right amount depends on your income, expenses, emergency savings, existing commitments, time horizon and goals. Start with an amount you can sustain comfortably and review it as your circumstances change.
Are mutual fund returns guaranteed?
No. Mutual fund investments are subject to market risks, and returns can be positive or negative. Past performance does not guarantee future results. Choose investments according to your goals, time horizon and ability to bear risk.
Can I stop or change my SIP?
SIP changes, pauses or cancellations depend on the fund, platform and mandate process. Review any applicable timelines and terms before making a change. Stopping a SIP does not automatically redeem units already invested.
Financial Planning
Why should I make a financial plan?
A plan connects your savings and investments to specific goals, timelines and priorities. It can also help you account for emergency funds, debt, insurance needs, inflation and changes in life circumstances.
How do I plan for goals such as education, a home or retirement?
Estimate the future cost, decide when you will need the money, account for inflation, assess your current savings and determine a realistic contribution plan. The suitable investment approach depends on the goal timeline and risk tolerance.
How often should I review my investments?
Review your plan periodically—often once or twice a year—and when major life or financial changes occur. Focus on whether your investments still fit your goals and risk profile rather than reacting to every market movement.
Insurance & Protection
How do I estimate my life insurance requirement?
Consider your family's future living expenses, outstanding loans, children's education and other goals, while accounting for existing assets and insurance. The estimate should reflect your dependants and circumstances, and should be reviewed as these change.
How much health insurance cover do I need?
Consider your city, family size, medical-cost exposure, employer cover, existing policies and budget. Check exclusions, waiting periods, co-payments, room limits and the policy's terms before deciding.
